Where: Farasi Lane Primary, Lower Kabete Road
When: Thursday, 22nd October
Time: 10 -11 a.m.
Who: Dr. Auma Obama & Chela

On Monday, 22th October, 2015, 10-year-old, Chela - campaign ambassador for the Yetu Start a Library initiative will partner with Dr Auma Obama to rally Kenyans to support the first ever book written by a nation in a brief function to be held at Farasi Lane Primary School in Nairobi.

Chela is on a four-month campaign to raise Ksh 30 million from individuals and organisations towards starting 100 libraries in public primary schools across the country. She also intends to collect stories from individuals for the more than 10 million pupils like her who study in schools without libraries, hence no access to storybooks, an essential resource that has a great impact in child literacy and academic excellence.

Through this initiative, Chela will also highlight the opportunity one has to become a co-author in the first collectively written book by a nation at the cost of Ksh 10 a word.

The ‘Start a Library’ Campaign launched in September aims to raise the money and compile stories for children by December 8th, 2015.

You are cordially invited to cover the event.
